BEGINNING SCHOOL COLLABORATIVE TEACHER Moravian Academy | Bethlehem, PA
Imagine a classroom where a child ties a shoe for the first time, sounds out a word on her own, or finds the courage to say "Can I play too?" You're right there when it happens. That's the daily reality for Moravian Academy's next Beginning School Collaborative Teacher.
You'll work side by side with a lead teacher, helping shape a joyful, inclusive classroom for children in Preschool through Kindergarten. You'll lead small and whole-group experiences, prepare materials that spark curiosity, and give individual attention to the children who need it. You'll watch closely, jot down the observations that matter, and help the lead teacher see each child's growth. You'll also be a trusted, familiar face for families at arrival, at dismissal, and through the conferences in between.
This is hands-on, full-day work in the best sense. You're with students from the morning greeting through recess, lunch in the classroom, specialist classes, and the final goodbye. It's a role for someone who loves being in the middle of young children's discoveries and who treats each day as a chance to nurture early social, literacy, math, motor, and cognitive skills.
We need someone who brings warmth as well as skill. You understand how young children learn and you meet them where they are. You're reliable and observant, and you're a generous teammate who contributes to weekly team and faculty meetings with a growth mindset. You enjoy the rhythm of school life, including Back to School Night, family conferences, and the occasional evening showcase or overnight field trip.
What You Bring
High school diploma (Associate's or Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred)
Experience working with preschool- or primary-aged children in a classroom setting
A strong grasp of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practice
Familiarity with play-based approaches (Reggio Emilia, project-based learning) and programs like Responsive Classroom, Singapore Math, Heggerty, or Wilson Fundations a plus
Comfort with Google Workspace and platforms like Seesaw
Stamina and presence to be actively engaged with children, indoors and out, throughout the school day
A heart for children and families of every background, and a commitment to joyful, inclusive community
