Senior Sales & Use Tax Analyst Client is seeking a Senior Sales & Use Tax Analyst who is detail-oriented, motivated, and proactive. This position is responsible for overseeing complex sales and use tax compliance, research, and planning. The role involves partnering with both internal teams and external advisors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in our sales tax processes. Sales & Use Tax Compliance Review and validate sales tax returns prepared by external providers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely filing. Reconcile tax accounts to the General Ledger and research variances. Manage sales tax registrations, exemption certificates, and compliance support. Audit & Dispute Support Assist with sales tax audits, including gathering documentation, preparing responses, and coordinating with tax authorities. Support resolution of disputes and maintain proper audit documentation. Tax Research & Planning Provide guidance on sales tax implications of business decisions, including nexus reviews, taxability analysis, and exemption opportunities. Stay informed of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry trends. Data Analytics & Process Improvement Analyze tax trends and investigate anomalies to identify risks and opportunities. Support tax technology initiatives, automation projects, and process enhancements. Collaboration & Communication Partner with internal business units, accounting, and external advisors to address tax questions and deliver effective solutions. Communicate complex tax issues clearly and concisely to non-tax professionals.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related field) and 4+ years of relevant experience (or Master's in Accounting with 2+ years). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-starter with proven accountability and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred:

CPA or CMI designation. Proven experience in sales & use tax compliance and research. Industry experience in telecom and related regulatory reporting (e.g., USAC 499A/Qs). Familiarity with sales tax software (Avalara, Vertex). Experience with data analytics and automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, UIPath).

Per Manager: For the compliance role, I would prefer certification (CMI/CPA) with any indirect tax experience over a candidate with telecom/SaaS experience but no CPA/CMI.
