We are seeking a hands-on
Controller
to lead accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, and optimize systems and processes. This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and can bring structure, efficiency, and scalability without unnecessary bureaucracy.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with advanced, hands-on NetSuite experience and a practical, solutions-oriented leadership style.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, payroll, and financial reporting.
Lead month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Oversee inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, inventory reserves, and related reconciliations.
Support cash management, treasury activities, audits, and tax-related processes.
Lead and develop the accounting team, promoting accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
NetSuite Systems Ownership
Serve as the primary functional owner of NetSuite from the accounting and finance perspective.
Manage and improve NetSuite processes across GL, AP, AR, inventory, accruals, reserves, prepaids, and month-end close.
Troubleshoot transaction posting issues, reconciliation differences, and system integration failures.
Create and modify saved searches, reports, custom fields, transaction forms, and basic workflows.
Support integrations between NetSuite and e-commerce platforms, payment systems, payroll providers, and other business applications.
Partner with external technical specialists on more complex configurations, integrations, and system enhancements.
Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve reporting accuracy.
Leverage NetSuite functionality and other automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
Explore opportunities for AI-enabled process improvements where appropriate.
Document accounting procedures and develop scalable processes to support continued growth.
Collaborate across Finance, Operations, IT, and other departments to resolve issues and improve information flow.
Qualifications
Required
Strong accounting leadership experience, including oversight of financial reporting, month-end close, and day-to-day accounting operations.
Advanced, hands-on NetSuite functional experience, including accounting workflows, reporting, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Ability to troubleshoot accounting system issues and coordinate solutions across internal teams and external partners.
A hands-on, collaborative approach with the ability to operate effectively in a growing business.
Preferred
CPA designation.
Experience in consumer products, wholesale distribution, e-commerce, or a related inventory-driven business.
Familiarity with sales tax automation platforms such as Avalara.
Experience with NetSuite SuiteQL, advanced reporting, and system administration.
Experience implementing accounting process improvements and automation initiatives.
Exposure to AI-driven finance or accounting automation.
NetSuite implementation consulting, SuiteScript development, and coding experience are not required.
