Elevator Technician – Emergency Communication Systems
Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type:
Full-Time
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established, growing company specializing in emergency communication and safety systems to hire an experienced
Elevator Technician
looking for a change of pace from traditional elevator field service.
This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Elevator Mechanic who is ready to
transition away from physically demanding elevator installations, repairs, and heavy mechanical work into a more specialized, less physically intensive technical service role.
Rather than performing full elevator installations or major mechanical repairs, this position focuses on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of emergency telephone and communication equipment found in elevators and other commercial properties.
This role offers a great balance of hands-on technical work, independence, and long-term career stability for an experienced elevator professional looking for something different.

Perform equipment inspections, testing, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
Manage assigned service routes, scheduling appointments and coordinating directly with customers.
Provide professional, responsive service to commercial property owners, property managers, and other customers.
Complete installations and service requests efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Maintain accurate service documentation, installation records, and equipment reports.
Work independently while collaborating with internal technical support and operations teams.

Travel throughout the assigned service territory, with occasional additional travel as needed.
Current and valid Elevator Mechanic License required.
Minimum 2 years of experience installing, servicing, or repairing elevator telephone or emergency communication equipment.
Strong understanding of elevator systems and related electrical and communication components.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and perform equipment installations independently.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules and service appointments.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Professional demeanor and ability to interact confidently with customers.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to successfully complete required background, driving record, and pre-employment drug screenings.
Experience with elevator emergency phones, communication systems, or related safety equipment.
Active elevator mechanic licenses or certifications in multiple states.
Experience managing independent service routes or customer-facing technical service responsibilities.
Familiarity with commercial or multifamily property environments.
