Do you like making machines smarter, faster, and more reliable? Southco is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to drive continuous improvement of our manufacturing equipment and develop new machine control methods.
You’ll take on complex engineering problems involving PLCs, servo-controlled motion, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems, then see your solutions running on the production floor. You’ll also work regularly with internal and external customers.
Install, program, and debug PLCs, AC/DC drives, HMIs, and servo drives
Lead controls engineering, machine building, and robotic installation projects on schedule and on budget
Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment
Select electromechanical equipment, components, and systems to meet functional requirements
Review project quotes and specifications and resolve any gaps
Interpret and maintain electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC programs, and machine layouts
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline such as electro-mechanical or industrial automation
3–5 years of experience programming PLCs, AC/DC drives, HMIs, and servo drives (Allen-Bradley and Omron preferred)
Ability to create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, simulation, testing, and start-up
Proficiency in AutoCAD
A proven track record of completing and implementing projects
