Managing Director, Tax Compliance & Audit
Lead all aspects of U.S. federal, state, local, and Canadian income tax compliance
Oversee income tax audits and controversy matters across multiple jurisdictions
Manage and develop a team of tax professionals focused on compliance and audit activities
Partner with external advisors and tax authorities on key tax matters
Collaborate with finance, legal, and business stakeholders across the organization
Drive process improvements and efficiencies across the compliance function
Our client is seeking a well-rounded tax leader with strong technical expertise, sound business judgment, and a hands-on approach to leading teams and managing complex tax matters. The ideal candidate will bring experience within a large corporate tax environment and a track record of developing teams while building strong relationships across the business.
Ideal Candidate Profile
8+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant responsibility for corporate income tax compliance within a large corporate environment
Strong technical knowledge across U.S. federal, state, and local income tax matters, with exposure to Canadian tax compliance preferred
Experience leading income tax audits, examinations, and controversy matters, including direct interaction with tax authorities and external advisors
Demonstrated success building, leading, and developing high-performing teams
Proven ability to partner effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across finance, legal, and business operations
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical tax considerations with broader organizational objectives
Excellent communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to present complex tax matters to a variety of audiences
CPA, JD, and/or MST preferred
For the right individual, this role offers meaningful long-term career potential, including a possible succession path to the Vice President of Tax Accounting & Compliance position.
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid; Monday through Thursday in the office, Friday remote.
