Our client is a manufacturing company seeking an Assistant Plant Controller to support the financial operations of a busy manufacturing facility. This position will partner closely with plant leadership and the Corp Controller to drive accurate financial reporting, inventory management, cost accounting, and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience and be comfortable working in a hands-on environment where they can influence processes and support continued growth.

Key

Responsibilities

Support all plant accounting and financial reporting activities.

Manage and mentor a team of 3 direct reports within the accounting function.

Maintain and analyze inventory accounting, including inventory valuation, reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventories.

Oversee and maintain product costing, standard costing, and cost roll-ups.

Analyze variances related to labor, overhead, material usage, scrap, and production efficiency.

Review and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing structures to ensure costing accuracy.

Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.

Partner with operations, supply chain, engineering, and production teams to improve financial and operational performance.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual planning activities.

Support project accounting initiatives, including capital projects, manufacturing improvement initiatives, and cost tracking.

Develop and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting capabilities.

Assist with ERP enhancements, inventory controls, and process improvement projects.

Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

7-10+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of: Inventory Accounting, Cost Accounting, Standard Costing, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Manufacturing Variance Analysis, Project Accounting, Experience supervising or mentoring staff.

Experience with Oracle accounting systems and modules in GL, INV, AP, AR, CST, + WIP, strong Excel + UKG Kronos/Payroll systems
