Responsibilities of Director of Library Services

Work with students and teachers to develop information literacy, research skills, technology competencies, and responsible media practices through one-on-one reference support.

Collaborate with faculty to integrate research and information literacy skills into classroom instruction and curriculum development.

Manage and curate print collections and library spaces to support student needs and school initiatives.

Implement instructional practices that fosters students' information literacy and critical thinking skills.

Assist with residential life responsibilities as needed to support students and maintain a positive residential community.

Serve as an advisor to students, providing guidance and support to promote academic achievement, personal growth, and overall student success.

Manage the department budget and allocate resources strategically to support departmental goals and priorities.

Requirements of Director of Library Services

Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent advanced degree.

Previous experience working with K-12 students.

Experience maintaining library cataloging, archival, and research database systems.

Experience with social media and graphic design platforms.

Proven ability to develop and deliver information literacy curriculum.

U.S. Work Authorization required.

Additional Desired Qualities

Experience with Library Management Software systems, such as Follett Destiny.

Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.

Previous independent school experience preferred, but not required.
