Accounting Manager

Job Description

This position will partner closely with accounting leadership and help oversee day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, accounts payable, cash management, and process improvement initiatives.

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, reserves, and general ledger activities.

Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are researched and resolved appropriately.

Support timely and accurate monthly financial reporting.

Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and internal policies.

Cash Management, Audit & Tax

Monitor cash activity and support working capital management.

Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements.

Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits.

Coordinate with outside advisors on federal, state, and local tax reporting, including income, property, and sales/use taxes.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

Maintain and enhance accounting controls, policies, and procedures.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and accuracy.

Maintain and update departmental procedures and documentation.

Leverage systems and technology to streamline financial processes and reporting.

Team Leadership

Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including accounts payable team members.

Establish accountability and promote continuous improvement within the accounting function.

Provide guidance and support to team members on day-to-day accounting matters.

Qualifications

Required

4+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Public accounting experience is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.

Hands-on experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.

Experience preparing audit schedules and working with external auditors.

Experience with a major ERP/accounting system.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting professionals.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA or CPA-track background.

Experience with business intelligence or financial reporting tools.

Strong process improvement mindset with an interest in leveraging technology.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
