We are seeking an experienced, hands-on accounting leader to oversee accounting operations for an established, growing organization. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, managing a high-volume accounting function, and leading a small accounting team through a leadership transition.
Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Accounting will oversee the monthly close process, transactional accounting operations, and day-to-day execution of core accounting activities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and people leader who can balance strategic oversight with a willingness to roll up their sleeves and work alongside the team.
This opportunity will begin on an interim basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent position.
Key
Accounting Operations:
Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely execution across core accounting functions.
Financial Close & Reporting:
Lead the monthly financial close process and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting.
Transactional Accounting:
Oversee high-volume accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other transactional accounting activities, supporting efficient processing and accurate recordkeeping.
Payment Processing:
Provide oversight of daily payment processing and related accounting activities, ensuring appropriate controls and timely execution.
Team Leadership:
Manage, mentor, and develop a small accounting team consisting of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and staff accounting personnel.
Process Improvement:
Evaluate existing accounting processes, identify opportunities to improve efficiency, and implement practical solutions to streamline workflows.
Internal Controls:
Maintain appropriate accounting controls and procedures to support accurate reporting, safeguard company assets, and promote operational consistency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with the CFO and other key stakeholders to support financial operations, resolve accounting issues, and maintain clear communication across the organization.
Leadership Transition:
Work alongside the current accounting leader during the transition period to ensure continuity of operations and a smooth transfer of responsibilities.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience overseeing the monthly close and financial reporting processes.
Experience managing high-volume transactional accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and support a small accounting team.
A hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance oversight, problem-solving, and direct involvement in day-to-day operations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and accounting staff.
Proven ability to identify process inefficiencies, strengthen accounting procedures, and improve operational effectiveness.
Ability to step into an established environment quickly, assess priorities, and provide immediate leadership and support.
