Assistant Controller — Manufacturing & Distribution

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established, family-owned manufacturing and distribution organization to identify an experienced Assistant Controller for its growing accounting team.
With approximately $500 million in annual revenue, more than 1,000 employees, and expanding operations across Florida and Georgia, this organization offers an exciting opportunity to join a financially established company experiencing significant growth through acquisitions and operational expansion.
This is a newly created position supporting the Controller and senior accounting leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on accounting experience, proven supervisory capabilities, and exposure to manufacturing, cost accounting, or inventory-intensive environments.
Key
Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory.
Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
Support manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing and material, labor, and overhead variance analysis.
Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliations, valuation, adjustments, cycle counts, and physical inventories.
Collaborate with Operations and Purchasing to investigate cost variances, inventory discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting procedures.
Assist with system improvements, acquisitions, and accounting integration initiatives.
Partner with the Controller and executive leadership on accounting and operational initiatives.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
Strong hands-on general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and technical accounting experience.
Experience working in a complex, multi-location, manufacturing, distribution, or similarly operationally intensive environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and lead accounting processes.
Ability to work fully onsite in Lake Park, Florida.
Cost accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variance analysis.
CPA designation or Master's degree in Accounting.
Experience supporting acquisitions, operational growth, or process improvements.
Compensation &
Competitive base salary of $120,000–$140,000, with flexibility depending on experience.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with the employer covering over 80% of medical premiums.
401(k) with approximately 5% employer match (eligible after 12 months).
