is an award-winning Medicare insurance agency focused on helping people understand their Medicare options and make confident healthcare decisions.
Named the #1 Top Workplace in San Diego in 2025 , we're looking for motivated, people-oriented individuals to join our in-office Medicare Sales team in San Diego.
No insurance license or Medicare experience? That's okay.
We provide paid, in-house licensing and training to prepare you for the role.
This is a full-time, phone-based sales position where you'll help Medicare-eligible consumers understand their healthcare options and enroll in plans that fit their needs. You'll work in a high-volume, performance-driven environment handling both inbound and outbound sales opportunities, with ongoing coaching and a team invested in helping you improve.
Already have sales or insurance experience? Tired of unrealistic income promises or being pressured to make sales that aren't right for the customer? NSBA is built around ethical sales, transparent expectations, and doing right by the people we serve.
What’s in it for you?
Company-paid licensing and training — no insurance license required to get started
Hourly pay + uncapped commission opportunities — your hourly rate does not decrease based on sales performance
Competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, PTO, and paid holidays
A collaborative, high-energy in-office environment with a team that wants to see you succeed
What are we looking for?
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport and trust over the phone
Someone who is coachable, open to feedback, and eager to learn
The ability to stay motivated and bounce back from rejection or challenging conversations
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, performance-driven sales environment
Able to adapt, think on your feet, and confidently navigate conversations with different types of people
Strong computer skills and the ability to navigate multiple systems while communicating with clients
Organized, dependable, and able to follow processes while managing multiple tasks
Previous sales, customer service, or call-center experience is a plus, but not required
What will you be doing?
Connect with Medicare-eligible consumers by phone to understand their healthcare needs
Explain Medicare plan options clearly and help clients identify coverage that fits their needs
Guide clients through the enrollment process from conversation through completed application
Build rapport and provide a positive, ethical customer experience throughout the sales process
Handle both inbound and outbound sales opportunities in a high-volume environment
Accurately document client interactions and enrollment information across multiple systems
Follow HIPAA/privacy requirements, Medicare regulations, carrier guidelines, and company compliance standards
Work toward individual sales and performance goals while maintaining quality and compliance standards
Participate in ongoing coaching, training, and development
Licensing & Background
An active health insurance license is required to work as a Medicare Sales Agent, but you do not need to be licensed when you apply. NSBA provides paid, in-house licensing training for eligible new hires and covers the cost of the pre-licensing course, licensing exam, license application, and required fingerprinting.
Unlicensed new hires are paid
$17.75/hour during the licensing period.
Upon entering Medicare training, the hourly rate increases to
$20/hour.
Employment in this role is contingent upon successfully obtaining and maintaining the required insurance license. Candidates must also complete required background screening, and state Departments of Insurance conduct their own background review as part of the licensing process.
If you are currently or were previously contracted with insurance carriers that require a release,
all required carrier releases must be obtained and provided to NSBA before your start date.
Candidates are responsible for obtaining any necessary releases prior to employment.
