Position Overview

The Technical Accounting Director will lead technical accounting research, policy development, and the evaluation of complex transactions to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP. The position will serve as a key resource for senior finance leadership, providing guidance on accounting matters, supporting financial reporting, and partnering across the organization to assess the accounting implications of business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the research, interpretation, and application of U.S. GAAP to complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, equity transactions, debt arrangements, and stock-based compensation.

Prepare and review technical accounting memoranda documenting conclusions, supporting analyses, and financial statement implications.

Evaluate significant and nonroutine transactions, collaborating with internal stakeholders to determine appropriate accounting treatment.

Monitor new accounting standards, assess organizational impact, and lead implementation efforts.

Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies to ensure consistent application across business units.

Support the preparation and review of financial statements and related disclosures for accuracy and compliance with applicable reporting requirements.

Partner with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal on accounting and reporting matters.

Provide accounting guidance for acquisitions, divestitures, financing activities, and other strategic initiatives.

Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors on technical accounting matters and coordinate supporting documentation.

Strengthen internal controls over technical accounting processes and support applicable SOX compliance requirements.

Develop and deliver training on accounting policies, emerging guidance, and complex accounting topics.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, documentation, and reporting practices.

Lead and develop technical accounting team members, as applicable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; advanced degree preferred.

Active CPA license required.

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial technical accounting experience.

Public accounting experience required; Big Four or national firm experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience researching and resolving complex accounting issues.

Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and evaluating significant business transactions.

Experience implementing new accounting standards and developing accounting policies.

Familiarity with SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to financial and nonfinancial stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
