About Sheer Science
Sheer Science is dedicated to improving lives through innovative products that deliver real results our customers can see and feel. We find and bring to market effective products backed by clinical studies, earning trust through performance. Our culture is open and honest, every employee’s voice is valued, and we keep things fun and collaborative. We live our values of honesty, transparency, and commitment to excellence.
Why this role?
Every decision at Sheer Science – what we launch, who we market to, how we serve customers – depends on data people can trust. As our Business Intelligence Analyst, you will be the person who makes sure it is right. You’ll own data quality and reporting accuracy across our Power BI dashboards and Azure data environment, track down the “why don’t these numbers match?” questions, and partner directly with teams across the business to turn their questions into clear, reliable answers.
What you’ll do
Own recurring data validation and quality checks across reporting datasets, pipelines, and source systems.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between source systems, warehouse tables, and Power BI outputs.
Write SQL for reconciliation, joins, aggregations, duplicate detection, and missing-record investigations.
Maintain and enhance Power BI reports and semantic models.
Support stakeholder requests for recurring reports, extracts, segmentation, and ad hoc analysis.
Perform first-level troubleshooting on failed Azure/Synapse pipelines before escalating to engineering.
Document business logic, table definitions, pipeline dependencies, and reporting rules; maintain data dictionaries and lightweight lineage documentation.
Support QA for new datasets, dashboards, and pipeline changes before they go to production.
What you’ll need
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a similar role.
Strong SQL fundamentals.
Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts.
Working knowledge of Python and Jupyter Notebooks for exploratory analysis and presentation.
Understanding of APIs, HTTP requests, authentication, and JSON responses.
Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to explain data findings to non-technical teammates.
Must live in the New York metro area (within a commute of Melville, NY) and be able to work on-site 2–3 days per week.
Nice to have
E-commerce or direct-to-consumer (D2C) experience, especially with customer, order, marketing, web, subscription, or product data.
Why you’ll like working here
If you enjoy being the person your team trusts to get the numbers right, we’d love to hear from you. Apply with your resume and a few lines on a data-quality problem you tracked down and solved.
