Aegis is seeking a qualified Procurement Manager to join our client's organization in Chicago, IL.
This individual will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, overseeing purchasing activities, and supporting multiple business units. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in industrial purchasing, hands-on leadership experience, and the ability to identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce costs.
This is a highly collaborative position that requires someone comfortable working with leadership teams, maintenance departments, and manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
5–7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or warehouse/stores management within a manufacturing environment.
2+ years of management or leadership experience, with demonstrated success working cross-functionally.
Experience in steel, metals, machining, heavy industrial manufacturing, or a related industry.
Strong understanding of maintenance procurement, industrial equipment, machinery, and MRO purchasing.
Proven negotiation, supplier relationship management, and contract management experience.
Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of inventory management practices, including cycle counting, ABC analysis, safety stock, and Kanban.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate purchasing data, calculate savings, and implement cost-reduction strategies.
Ability to work in both an office and manufacturing environment, collaborating directly with plant operations.
Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally approximately 1–2 times per quarter, with additional travel as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience supporting purchasing activities across multiple business units or international manufacturing operations.
Master's degree or additional professional education/certifications.
