This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and AMEA. Department: Library Hours of Work: Hours vary, Monday through Sunday between the hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
3600 Denali Street Example of Duties Pull materials from the Automated Handling bins, sort, and shelve them in order. Check out and check in library materials to and from patrons. Shift materials as needed. Shelf read to ensure proper order. Assist public in use of automated handling and self-check machines. Register library patrons for library cards. Aid customers with the use of library website and catalog. Direct customers to the location of library materials. Maintain library order, straightening shelves, refilling displays, checking computers and other equipment. Establish and maintain effective relations with coworkers and the public; Treat everyone with honesty, respect, and fairness. Assist in Anchorage Public Library's (APL) diversity and inclusiveness efforts. Ensure excellent customer service and a positive user experience while being an efficient member of the team. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) months of customer service experience (volunteer or paid). All positions require: Employment is conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400). Personal suitability qualifications: Per Municipal Code 3.30.024.D Personal suitability qualifications commonly required by any employee occupying a position in any class, such as good character, loyalty, honesty, demeanor, industry, amenability to supervision, and willingness to cooperate with associates shall be qualifications required for each position.
