We’re partnering with a $200M general contractor in downtown Chicago to hire a Project Accountant who will work closely with the Controller and project management team across a varied portfolio of construction projects.

What you’ll be doing
Manage project accounting across multiple construction projects, partnering closely with Project Managers and the Controller.
Prepare and review monthly owner billings, supporting documentation and project financial reports.
Track project budgets, commitments, change orders and costs to help maintain accurate financial records.
Work with project teams on forecasting, cost-to-complete reviews and work-in-progress reporting.
Review subcontractor payment applications, invoices and lien waivers, helping keep payments accurate and timely.
Support month-end close, reconciliations and project closeout.
Identify discrepancies early, resolve issues with the relevant teams and help improve accounting processes as the business grows.
What you’ll bring
Experience in project accounting within construction, ideally with a general contractor.
A solid understanding of job costing, progress billing, subcontractor payments and project financial reporting.
The confidence to work directly with Project Managers, ask questions and explain financial information clearly.
Strong attention to detail, ownership of your work and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline is preferred.
