This Part-time CPA/Accountant is responsible for closing the books monthly; preparing financial statements and other financial reports; reconciling and booking monthly investment reports from external managers; preparing the annual budget with management direction; and assisting in the annual financial audit. The role is expected to provide accurate and timely information and to become knowledgeable of the retreat house mission. Once familiar with the role, the position will require about two-three days a month to update and prepare accurate monthly financials, and quarterly financial information for board meetings. Additional time will be needed during budget preparation (spring) and the annual external audit (summer), but overall time will likely not exceed 300 hours annually.

Must have an undergraduate degree in accounting and significant experience with closing the books in a non-profit environment using fund accounting; CPA certificate is desirable but will consider the nature and duration of prior work experience as a possible substitute.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years relevant experience. Having experience working with endowments and investments of a non-profit is necessary. A certified CPA is ideal, but not necessary.
Must be able to commute to Barrington, IL for meetings at least once a month with greater frequency initially.
Excellent proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.
