CooperDouglas has partnered with a leading healthcare technology company in Southern California to hire a Senior Accountant. This is a rapidly growing startup building its accounting function for the first time. You’d report straight to the head of finance, and the close, the forecast and the budget would be yours to build.

What you will do

Build and own the month-end close from the ground up

Handle revenue recognition and accruals under US GAAP

Run AP, AR, invoicing and expense/corporate card administration, then hand the transactional work to a new team member you’ll help oversee

Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules

Build the revenue forecast and stand up the company’s first annual budget

Replace the outside bookkeeper

Improve workflows with automation and AI tools; the company is open to new systems and may change its accounting platform

Support audit, tax and compliance as the company grows

What we are looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

3+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close

Startup or small-company experience where you built or fixed processes

Some exposure to forecasting or budgeting

Self-starter who picks things up fast and doesn’t need a lot of direction

Comfortable doing both the big-picture projects and the transactional work

Stable work history

Comfortable with cloud accounting platforms and AP/expense tools, and curious about AI

Healthcare or tech experience is a plus, not a requirement
