Senior Accountant - Sales Tax & Accounting

Columbus, MT | Full-Time

Montana Silversmiths is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to manage multi-state sales tax compliance, support month-end close activities, and assist with financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel knowledge, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Manage multi-state sales tax filings, registrations, audits, and compliance.

Reconcile ERP transactions with sales tax software and prepare related journal entries.

Support month-end close and general ledger reconciliations.

Assist with annual IRS 1099 reporting.

Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding sales tax matters.

Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.

2-5 years of accounting experience, including sales tax compliance preferred.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, large datasets).

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Experience with Dynamics AX, Power BI, SureTax, Magento, or similar systems is a plus.
