The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our International Tax & Transaction Services (ITTS) practice as a Senior Consultant or Assistant Manager in our Karachi office, supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) market.

The role has a Transaction Tax Advisory (M&A) focus. In addition to helping clients understand and address the tax implications of transactions that are strategically important to them, such as acquisitions, disposals, refinancing, restructurings or initial public offerings, you will advise clients on the regional and international tax implications of their transactions and operations in line with the relevant tax codes and jurisdictions. This is an advisory-focused role that specializes in (international) tax matters such as tax due diligence, permanent establishment, double taxation, cross-border treaties, tax structuring, corporate tax impact assessments, withholding tax, and any other relevant matters.

Your key responsibilities

You will assist with the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding international and transaction tax engagements, ensuring technical and practical excellence to maximize client service quality.

As part of a global entity, you can also expect to manage leads and opportunities from other areas of the tax practice and the wider EY network and help them do the same.

Moreover, you will be a core contributor to the development of the practice through initiatives such as delivering internal training, developing precedents, sharing knowhow, participating in team and firm events, giving internal and external presentations, and producing expert articles for publications.

Skills and attributes for success

Client-driven approach to work, strong commercial and strategic awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and encourage project teams.
Strong technical knowledge and subject matter expertise on various international tax topics and a keen understanding of the tax laws and codes of jurisdictions you are expected to work with.

Qualifications & Experience

A relevant bachelor’s degree focused on Tax, Economics, Accounting, or Finance, or another related area, or a completed approved professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, CPA, ATT, ADIT or equivalent.
4 years or more of relevant, client-facing tax advisory experience.
Strong managerial, organisational, project management, analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
Experience of managing a team and/or mentoring and developing more junior team members.

Ideally, you’ll also have

Broad exposure to transaction tax or international taxation with focus on inbound and outbound investments.
Advanced knowledge or specialization in a particular area of international tax.
Any experience with KSA tax regulations.
