VMware SME
New Haven, CT (hybrid, onsite 2-3 days, every couple of weeks - flexible) Duration: 3-6 Months - potentially renewable Hours: 37.5 -40 hours per week Yale University is seeking a VMware SME to lead the deployment of a new VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 environment. This resource will provide hands-on implementation, architecture guidance, and best-practice recommendations across virtualization, automation, server infrastructure, and storage. Responsibilities:
Lead the installation, configuration, and deployment of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1. Provide VMware architecture guidance and infrastructure best practices. Support Dell server infrastructure and Dell SAN storage design, deployment, and optimization. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions using Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, Packer, and HashiCorp Vault. Assist with infrastructure sizing, performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational readiness. Create technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to staff. Required Skills: VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 Terraform Ansible GitHub HashiCorp Vault Packer Dell PowerStore Dell SAN Storage Solutions Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture and Best Practices Preferred Qualifications: VMware certifications Experience with greenfield VCF deployments Higher education or large enterprise environment experience
