About Corgi
In September 2026,
Fast Company
named Corgi one of its Best Workplaces for Innovators in North America.
Corgi is a full-stack insurance carrier, not a broker. We design, underwrite, price and issue our own policies, which removes the handoffs and friction of traditional insurance and lets us build faster, better coverage for startups.
Insurance is one of the largest unautomated industries in financial services, and we are rebuilding it with AI. Corgi is a Y Combinator company (S24) with a growing team across the U.S. and Europe.
About the Role
Corgi Insurance Services, Inc. is seeking a Director of Public Affairs to lead our relationships with state Departments of Insurance (DOIs) nationwide. You will monitor and shape insurance regulation across the states and keep the business ahead of regulatory requirements. Prior employment at a state Department of Insurance is required.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with insurance regulators in all 50 states and the District of Columbia on licensing, rate and form filings, examinations, inquiries and new rulemaking.
Build and maintain working relationships with DOI staff nationwide and track NAIC committee activity and model law development.
Serve as a day-to-day contact with DFS.
Monitor and analyze proposed and adopted regulations, circular letters and guidance; assess operational and financial impact.
Draft comment letters on DFS rulemaking and coordinate Corgi's position with Legal, Compliance and business units.
Support DFS examinations, special reports and regulatory inquiries, including coordination of responses and remediation plans.
Work to advance Corgi's priorities.
Prepare regular regulatory updates and briefings for senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of prior employment at a state Department of Insurance (or equivalent state insurance regulator) in a regulatory, legal, policy or examination role.
Extensive knowledge of insurance and DFS regulations and circular letters.
Proven ability to analyze regulations and legislation and write clear, persuasive policy documents.
Strong relationship-building skills with regulators, legislative staff and industry partners.
Working knowledge of how state DOIs operate across jurisdictions, including NAIC model laws, SERFF filings and multistate examinations.
Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
JD, MPA or related advanced degree.
Knowledge of the New York legislative and budget process.
Existing relationships with New York policymakers, legislative staff and insurance regulators.
