Detailed Job Description:

As a SOC Intern supporting NETS International in Sector B-17, Islamabad, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of security event monitoring, alert triage, and incident escalation workflows. Your day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing security information and event management (SIEM) consoles, analyzing network packets, investigating anomalous behavior, and collaborating closely with senior SOC analysts and incident responders. You will operate in a collaborative enterprise security operations center while partnering directly with global cybersecurity experts and recruitment executives like Arooj Zehra Naqvi. Key Responsibilities:

Monitor real-time security alerts, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and firewall logs across enterprise networks from the SOC console.
Triage, investigate, and analyze security events, anomalies, and potential indicators of compromise (IoCs) promptly.
Support senior security analysts in executing comprehensive incident response workflows and threat mitigation procedures.
Review and analyze log data from diverse operating systems, network devices, and cloud security tools.
Assist in vulnerability assessments, security scanning, and threat intelligence gathering operations.
Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional IT operations and network engineering squads during security remediation cycles.
Research emerging cyber threat vectors, malware signatures, and enterprise defense tactics.
Maintain meticulous documentation of security incidents, investigation notes, alert triage logs, and escalation reports.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
Recent graduate or early-career professional demonstrating exceptional academic excellence in cybersecurity fundamentals.
Strong foundational knowledge of networking protocols, TCP/IP stack, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and security principles.
Comprehensive understanding of common cyber attack vectors, vulnerability types, and threat intelligence concepts.
Deep practical aptitude for analytical problem-solving, log analysis, and technical troubleshooting.
Solid practical grasp of security tools, packet analyzers, and basic endpoint protection mechanisms.
Exceptional communication skills, teamwork aptitude, intellectual curiosity, and professional collaboration capabilities.
Local residency in Sector B-17, Taxila, Wah, or immediate surrounding areas (strongly preferred due to internship location).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Foundational cybersecurity certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or equivalent credentials.
Prior internship experience or academic projects focusing on Security Operations Center (SOC) workflows or SIEM tooling.
Hands-on familiarity with open-source security tools (Wireshark, Snort, Nmap) and Linux command-line administration.
Experience utilizing enterprise collaboration platforms (Jira, Confluence) and IT service management ticketing systems.
Active participation in university cybersecurity clubs, Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, or ethical hacking societies.
