Job Description

Tropical Shipping in West Palm Beach, Florida is seeking an General Accounting Supervisor!

The ideal candidate will

be responsible for analyzing financial information and records primarily within the Accounting Department. Prepares/reviews journal entries, internal and external reports and account reconciliations. Assists with internal and external audits. Assists in the development, documentation and implementation of operating policies and procedures supporting accounting control requirements. Supervises assigned positions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Supervises assigned accounting positions.

Develops, enhances, and prepares managerial accounting and financial reports that support organizational structures and management of the business.

Prepares operating expense analysis and variance explanations.

Prepares monthly accruals and closing journal entries.

Prepares and reviews balance sheet account reconciliations.

Reviews all bank account reconciliations and ensures follow-up on outstanding items.

Assists in the preparation of standard operating procedures and manuals for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Assists in the preparation and conduct of internal and external audits.

Assists in the evaluation, development, and implementation or upgrade of accounting software, as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Experience

5 years related experience

Licenses

Valid driver's license and Valid Passport.

Travel

Occastional travel within the U.S. and other Tropical Caribbean locations in the Caribbean

Physical Requirements

Office Environment - Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Ability to bend, stoop or reach overhead. Manage department equipment. Ability to sit for approximately eight hours per day. Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, trains, etc.). Occasionally exposed to outside elements during traveling, and site visits.
